Privacy Policy for Apps
This policy applies to every desktop and mobile app published by Fairstack on fairstack.dev, unless the page of a specific app says otherwise. The privacy policy of the website itself is a separate document.
Ce document est disponible en anglais, en russe et en ukrainien. La version anglaise est affichée et fait foi.
01 In short
- Apps are built to work on your device and keep your data there.
- We do not show advertising, do not sell your data and do not build advertising profiles.
- Crash or usage reports are never sent unless you explicitly turn them on.
- Anything that leaves your device is disclosed on the app’s page under “Data practices” before you download it.
- You can ask us to delete the data we hold about you at any time.
02 Who is responsible
Fairstack publishes the apps and is the controller of any personal data that an app sends to us.
03 How to read “Data practices”
Every app page states one of two modes:
- Offline. The app does not send data off your device. It works entirely locally and makes no connections of its own.
- Online. The app uses online features. The page then explains which data is sent, why, and how long it is kept.
If the page describes something more specific than this policy, the more specific description applies to that app. It never gives you less protection than the principles stated in this policy.
04 What apps may access on your device
- Information about your hardware and operating system, when an app’s purpose is to show or use it.
- Files and folders you choose to open or save.
- Permission to show notifications, if you enable alerts.
- Sensitive permissions, such as camera, microphone, location or contacts, only if a feature needs them. Your operating system asks you first, and the permission is used only for that feature.
Information an app reads locally is processed on your device and shown to you. It is not sent to us unless the app is in Online mode and its page says so.
05 What apps store on your device
- Settings and interface preferences.
- Data you create or choose to save, such as snapshots, reports or exports.
Removing an app’s data folder or uninstalling the app deletes what it stored locally, except for files you exported yourself.
06 Apps with online features or accounts
When an app is in Online mode, its page lists exactly what is sent. Depending on the feature, this may include:
- an account identifier, such as an email address;
- identifiers and names of your linked devices;
- tokens needed to deliver push notifications;
- technical data about your device that the feature is meant to show you, for example status or performance readings;
- diagnostic information, only if you opt in.
This data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). It is used only to provide the feature you asked for, kept while your account or device stays linked, and deleted when you unlink the device, delete your account or ask us to.
07 Service providers
To run online features we may rely on:
- Cloudflare and our hosting provider, which deliver traffic and host our servers;
- Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging, where an app sends push notifications;
- Apple App Store and Google Play, which distribute mobile apps and process purchases under their own policies.
These providers act on our behalf or under their own terms, and may process data outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area, using safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.
08 Reports and exports you share
Files you export can contain details and identifiers of your device. What you do with an exported file, including sending it to someone, is up to you, so check its contents before sharing.
09 Downloads and updates
Desktop installers are downloaded from this website, and the website privacy policy applies to that visit. Installers are published with a SHA-256 checksum so you can verify them. Mobile apps are installed and updated through the app stores.
10 Your rights and deleting your data
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected or data erased;
- restrict or object to processing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
You can unlink a device or delete your account inside the app where that feature exists, or write to us. We respond within 30 days. Offline apps do not send us data, so there is nothing for us to access or delete.
11 Children
Apps are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
12 Changes
If an app changes what it sends, its Data practices are updated before that version is released. Material changes to this policy are published on this page with an updated date.
